Pearl Abyss Taiwan Corp. and its affiliated companies (Hereinafter referred to as "Pearl Abyss" or the “Company”) stores, processes, and shares personal information in certain circumstances in order to provide users with Services. However, the security of users’ personal information is a priority to us and ample measures will be taken to protect it. This Privacy Policy applies to all Services provided by Pearl Abyss.  

 

The "Privacy Policy" refers to the guidelines that Pearl Abyss must adhere to in order to ensure that users can use the Black Desert Global Lab with peace of mind when Pearl Abyss collects, uses, or processes the users' personal information.

 

This "Privacy Policy" is applied to the Black Desert Global Lab service provided by Pearl Abyss.

 

1. Pearl Abyss collects the following personal information from users:

1) Pearl Abyss collects the minimum personal information necessary to provide the service.

Pearl Abyss collects personal information as follows. However, this information is based on the point at which the user has confirmed, and if additional personal information is collected from the user, we will inform the user in advance and obtain their consent.

 

The company collects and uses the following personal information when a user uses the game at the Black Desert Global Lab (https://www.global-lab.playblackdesert.com/).

- Required information: ID (email address), name, date of birth, password

※  The company does not collect personal information from users regarded as minors in respective countries (ex. 13 or under in the US/Canada, 13-16 or under in Europe).

- During the use of our services, information such as IP address, cookies, visit date and time, records of misuse, and device information are generated, and we may collect this information.

The company collects data that is created while a user uses our Services with or without an account.  

- Game progress data  

- Chat history, IP addresses and information about devices (For example: Type of CPU, RAM capacity, Type of graphic card, Graphic card's RAM, etc.)

- Data related to game play and interactions with other players within the service

- Error information, MAC address

- Game play screenshots (when a game client has an error)

- The information collected through Cookies and related technology

- Web browser information, Location information

- Advertising ID

- MAC address, HDD serial

 

(4) Sending Feedback

- E-mail, language, automatically generated information, device identification information, and other information necessary for consultation.

2. For what purpose does Pearl Abyss use personal information?

1) It is used to identify users, confirm their intention to register, and prevent the misuse of services for malicious reasons.

2) It is used to provide various services of Pearl Abyss to users, handle inquiries or complaints during the service use, and deliver notices.

3) It is also used for analyzing service usage records and access frequency of users, statistics on service usage, and providing customized services and service improvements based on these.

4) It is used to comply with relevant laws.

 

3. How long does Pearl Abyss use personal information?

Pearl Abyss uses the personal information of users only for the period of providing services, starting from the point of registration and service use. If a user requests to leave the membership, withdraws consent to the collection and use of provided personal information, or if the purpose of collection and use has been achieved or the retention and use period has ended, the personal information of the user is destroyed without delay.

※ Warning: After requesting the deletion of member data, it is considered that the service contract has been suspended, so it is not possible to log in and use related services with the member account.

4. Who does Pearl Abyss share users’ information with?

In this case, consent is obtained in accordance with the law, and it is used only within the usage period for the separately notified purpose of personal information use, the provided personal information.

However, the user's consent is not required in the following cases:

1) When it is difficult to obtain consent due to economical or technical reasons, as necessary information for providing various services promised with the user by Pearl Abyss.

5. When and how does Pearl Abyss dispose of the personal information collected from users?

Pearl Abyss instantly eliminates users’ personal information once the purpose of collecting and utilizing relevant information is fulfilled.

Once the retention period ends, information will be entirley disposed of using a technical method that prevents restoration, and any printed personal information is destroyed by shredding or incineration. However, exceptions are made where preservation is required by law.

 

6. What rights and choices do users have pertaining to their personal information?  

Pearl Abyss is committed to protecting the rights of the users as follows:

1) Users can view and modify their registered personal information at any time. To view or modify the personal information, users can go through the identity verification process via "Change Member Info" or "Email", after which users can directly view or modify their information.

2) Users can request to withdraw their consent to the provision of personal information or cancel their membership at any time.

3) Users' personal information will not be used or provided until the modification is complete to ensure accurate use and provision of personal information. Also, if the information has already been provided to a third party, we will promptly inform the recipient so that the modification can be made.

4) Privacy rights of users residing in the European Economic Area

Users accessing the Services from the European Economic Area (EEA) have the following additional rights relating to personal information, but their effectiveness and procedures may be determined in accordance with the laws and regulations of individual countries.

Pearl Abyss regards the personal information of the users as of utmost value and is making the following efforts in handling personal information.

1) Pearl Abyss is encrypting users' personal information.

Pearl Abyss transmits users' personal information using encrypted communication intervals, and important information such as passwords is encrypted and stored.

 

2) Pearl Abyss is making efforts to protect against hacking or computer viruses.

Pearl Abyss has installed a system in an area where access from the outside is controlled to prevent the leakage or damage of users' personal information through hacking or viruses. The compnay has installed a system that detects and blocks intrusions from hackers and is monitors it 24 hours a day. Pearl Abyss has also installed antivirus software to prevent the system from being infected with malicious codes or viruses. In addition, the company is continuously researching new hacking security technologies and applying them to the services.

 

3) Pearl Abyss controls access right to users’ information to a minimum.

Pearl Abyss is minimizing the number of employees handling personal information and has blocked the use of external internet services on work PCs to reduce the risk of personal information leakage. In addition, the company has established systematic standards for the creation and change of passwords for the database system storing personal information and the system processing personal information, as well as for the authority to access them. It is also conducting continuous audits.

 

4) Regular training is being conducted for employees on the protection of users' personal information.

10. What measures does Pearl Abyss take when transferring personal information overseas?

Our services are provided worldwide, so user data can be transferred anywhere in the world, and different data protection laws may apply depending on the country. Especially if a user reside in Europe, the data protection laws of countries outside the EEA (European Economic Area) where the user’s information can be transferred may not be as comprehensive or strict as the laws in the user’s region. However, the company will take appropriate protective measures to protect users' personal information in accordance with applicable laws. Detailed information on data protection can be found in "8. Users can contact our Support or the personal information protection manager and related departments at any time to request a halt to the overseas transfer of personal information. However, if the personal information is not provided to overseas companies at request, there may be restrictions on the use of our website and game services.

Also, when user's personal information is transferred to the partner companies and service providers listed in "4. Who does Pearl Abyss share users’ information with?", we have entered into contracts with these companies in accordance with EU standard data protection clauses to ensure that the company's transfer of personal information is carried out safely under appropriate protective measures.
